Are you all-in?
You’re obviously reading this because you want to start, run or grow your own business.
And, you want to create dependable monthly income. Either with a membership site, newsletter, software, coaching programs or physical products.
But, I’ll ask you again:
ARE YOU ALL-IN?
Now don’t worry. This isn’t about “hustle” or “grind”.
Nor is this about working 24/7.
Whenever I do a coaching call with an entrepreneur, if I’m not hearing the passion in their voice, I ask a simple question.
“On a scale of 1-10, how badly do you want this?”
Sometimes, they’ll immediately shout back “10!” or “9!”.
Ok, I can work with that.
But if I hear even a slight hesitation while they “think” about it – or their answer is an 8 or below – I know their chance to succeed is almost zero.
You MUST, MUST, MUST really want this. There’s no way around it.
You can’t “hack” passion.
You can’t “hack” enthusiasm.
If you are lukewarm about starting, running or growing your own business – you’re in big trouble from the start.
It wasn’t always that way.
When I launched my first site in 1999, you could stuff a bunch of keywords on a web site, get organic traffic from search engines and make passive commissions or ad revenue.
But those days are long gone and never coming back.
There’s too much competition in every market.
Today – you gotta want it. It’s no longer optional.
Do The 10’s Fail?
But here’s the rub.
Even if you’re at a 9 or 10 – you can still fail.
“Ryan, didn’t you just say you need to be at a 9 or 10 to succeed?”, you might be thinking right now.
Yes, you need to START there. But just because you’re enthusiastic – it’s doesn’t guarantee success.
Can I be blunt?
Sometimes you’re not defining your market (too broad).
Sometimes you’re marketing is too scattered (trying to be everywhere)
Sometimes you’re not being yourself (just be you!)
Sometimes you’re trying to hard to be like every other marketer (your product does not have to end in a 7!)
Sometimes you’re selling too early in the relationship (and not building trust)
Sometimes you’re putting yourself before your tribe (they come first. always)
Sometimes you focus all your energy on the small “tactics” (the big stuff happens when you focus on strategy!)
Sometimes (how do I say this nicely?)… your idea sucks (you must test it and let the market decide)
You see these people working themselves to death. Trying to outwork Gary Vee – and then end up overworked, stressed-out with adrenal fatigue and no further along with their business than last year.
The Answer.. is Simplicity
First, make sure you really want this. And once you do, you go on a simplicity binge.
Step 1: Unlearn and Unsubscribe
Get off EVERY marketing list or FB group that doesn’t add value. If they’re only trying to sell you and pitch other products – it’s a distraction. And you must go on a guru-detox.
The minute you do this, you’ll be shocked at how relaxed and more focused you feel. Try it today. Believe me, you’re not missing anything. Stop using “swipe” as an excuse. Leave them behind today.
Step 2: Build Your List
Start with one platform (could be FB, YouTube, Instagram, etc.) – it doesn’t matter (we have all the NEW, UPDATED training for each of them here in one place so you don’t have to freak out about having to spend $2k on products!).
You learn the platform and you drive traffic to build your list. That’s it. You start there. Everything starts there.
Step 3: You Give
You email your list. You give. You share. You connect. You help. You show them you really care. You PROVE you really care.
You open your heart and soul – and you never, ever stop.
Step 4: Create a GREAT Offer
You create one great offer.
It could be a membership site, a product, an ebook, a newsletter, or even a coaching call. You start with ONE product or program and you make it so good it’s impossible to say no. And you keep refining until it’s a true no-brainer.
TIP! If you have to ask “is this a no-brainer?”, then it’s not!
Step 5: Repeat
You continue to stay lean.
You continue to say NO.
You continue to remove distractions.
You continue to put your subscribers and members first.
You continue to put people over profits.
You continue to make your products and programs better.
You continue to surround yourself with people who ENERGIZE and support you on your mission.
You continue to focus on the SIMPLE things that move your business forward – and you ignore the rest.
This is the reason why I do my morning email – and how I’m always done by3:30pm to spend all afternoon and night with my four children.
Even after almost 20 years – I’m still at a “passionate 10” because I love serving others. It’s never been about the money – it’s about impacting lives.
Yet, I focus on keeping my business (and life) as simple as possible so I can build a profitable business while still enjoying unlimited time with my family.
Be a 10.
But be a smart 10.
Do. The. Right. Things.
You got this.
