I’m your future self. It’s a year later – December 2019.
I want to tell you what happened in the last 12 months.
A year ago, in December 2018, you said: “Today is the day I change my life.”
You also said:
The quality of my life is my responsibility.
I am done with toxic people.
I am done with procrastination.
I am ready to be my best self.
And some amazing things happened.
You see, back in December 2018, you realized that you have a circle of control. When you focus all of your energy on that circle, you do incredible things. You exceed everyone’s expectations. You make it look easy. And you’re happier.
Everything inside the dark circle, you control.
• Your reactions
• Your emotions
• Your work ethic
• Your desires
Everything outside the circle, you don’t control.
• The weather
• Other people
• Acts of God
• Mean people
• The economy
And a year ago, you made a decision to focus on that inner circle.
You became like a magnifying glass, focusing the rays of the sun onto your goals.
You took all the light around you, and you focused it.
And you caught fire. ?
You see, success comes down to one thing: your desires.
Whatever you want most, you think about.
Whatever you think about most, you do.
Whatever you do determines your results.
And a year ago, you realized, you have complete control over your desires.
So you made a decision.
1. You want to be in way better financial shape in 12 months.
2. You want to be healthier in 12 months.
3. You want to have better relationships in 12 months.
You decided you wanted those things more than anything else.
And here’s what’s crazy.
You started to see results IMMEDIATELY.
Just making the decision made a difference.
You started jumping out of bed in the morning.
Because you could feel the changes starting right now.
You took care of some of the most important worries you have – you tackled the problems, head-on, with the help of your friends.
You spent time every day clearly visualizing your life in 12 months, and you started to become that person.
And here’s what’s crazy:
The universe started doing stuff FOR YOU.
God, or the universe, was watching out for you. Always has been, as a matter of fact.
It was always there. A line of communication, a conduit of energy and assistance, offering peace in times of problems and clarity in times of confusion. You made a decision to reach out for that help, and it was there. Immediately.
You let go of the chains that held you back.
And letting go was easier than you’d ever thought: you raised your standards. So many people are trying to break through a wall of problems.
You decided to rise everything standing in your way.
When you made a decision to raise the standard of your desires, the world took notice. The universe took notice. God took notice. Well, he was always noticing. Ha. But he noticed when you raised your standards. You cleared some space in your life, in your mind. You threw out the baggage of old hurt, disappointment, failure, and then all of the sudden, you had all this new free space.
And the universe was ready to fill up that free space.
With all that new room: room in your heart, room in your mind, room in you life – you decided to fill up with goodness and success and accomplishment.
You quickly noticed opportunities you’d never seen before.
You acted fast to take advantage of those opportunities – without anything holding you back.
But that’s not all.
You took the easier path in your financial success – and you had the best year you’ve ever had.
You didn’t set a GOAL to spend more time with your loved ones. You DID IT. You just started being present for the people you care about most.
You stopped thinking about what everyone could do for you, and you realized that service to others is its own reward. You found joy in doing the right thing, regardless of what happened next.
And because you stopped thinking only of yourself, God took notice. God doesn’t just help those that help themselves, as the saying goes. The universe helps those that help others. Again, it’s a circle:
In a world full of selfishness, you took a higher path. The longer you walked along that higher path, the more positive energy and happiness came into your life.
Along the way, a friend taught you something that changed your trading for the better, forever.
Along the way, you noticed ways that you were allowing other people to negatively influence you, and you politely said goodbye to them. Your heart was open and available.
You decided that what you wanted most was more important than what you wanted in the moment.
You stopped hoping. You started working. You stopped wishing that someone else would make things better for you.
You started making things better for yourself, and for others.
You paused for a brief moment – even a brief second – before every action – and you asked, “Is this what my best self would do?
And eventually – your highest goals, your biggest dreams, your strongest desires – they became your daily focus. You were living as your best self.
When you understood who you really are, you started thinking and acting on a higher level. And all the good stuff comes on the higher levels.
But don’t get me wrong: there were challenges!
And here’s the amazing thing:
Every time a challenge came your way, you said, “I’ve got this.”
Obstacles were opportunities. You faced everything head-on.
In the middle of overcoming a challenge, you had a huge breakthrough realization: When you tackle the most important stuff first, every day – most challenges are easy to overcome.
This gave you confidence. And the confidence, well, that changed everything.
Because of your confidence, people sought out your advice. You became more attractive – not because you wanted to, or because that was your goal – but because when you are your best self, people want to be near you.
And those people – your friends – helped you in your time of need.
You’ll help them back when they need it, too.
And it all started with one decision:
Today is the day you get started.
That was the most important decision.
And today is that day.
